General death of RPGs
Why has noone posted? Void and Christian have apparently contaneously sponbusted. Medea(?) Serenity, and Elysian graduated, so they have an excuse, Tempest just never posts for random reasons....Zoan and Pandora can't get a schedule, because Serenity isn't here to sort it out. New people are gonna start making me phobic soon, and the biggest thing that we have seen lately is random stuff!

People come in, stay for a time and leave... it's inevitable.
Everyone can adapt, or they can keep waiting for something that may never happen. Ask people to check in, build bridges with newcomers (unless no one noticed, calling them "n00b" is insulting) and people will start posting back in the RPing forum.

Don't know!
I honestly have no clue why people haven't been posting. I'm still here, I just didn't post earlier because I had to get my computer registered here at my college. Anyways, I don't know what happened to elysian and serenity. I tried to call serenity, and I haven't been able to get a hold of her. I know that her internet wasn't working for a while, so that may be it. I know exx had some surgery or something, and I'm sure he has other reasons not to be posting. Other than that, I have no clue.
The rest is silence. . .

WE ARE THE BORG. LOWER YOUR SHIELDS AND SURRENDER YOUR SHIPS. WE WILL ASSIMILATE YOUR BIOLOGICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL DIVERSITIES INTO OUR OWN. YOUR CULTURE WILL ADAPT TO FIT OUR NEEDS. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Ah that was the borg phrase I was missing. Resistance is futile.
And Medea, how can you even be a self respecting spammer with me when the smuck above me is two posts ahead of you? We need to get working. PM for the plans of Spam and ham.

Spam:
Definition: Spamming is the use of any electronic communications medium to send unsolicited messages in bulk. While its definition is usually limited to indiscriminate bulk mailing and not any targeted marketing, the term "spam" can refer to any commercially oriented, unsolicited bulk mailing perceived as being excessive and undesired. In the popular eye, the most common form of spam is that delivered in e-mail as a form of commercial advertising. However, over the short history of electronic media, people have done things comparable to spamming for many purposes other than the commercial, and in many media other than e-mail. Spammers have developed a variety of spamming techniques, which vary by media: e-mail spam, instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engines spam, weblogs spam, and mobile phone messaging spam.
Flood attack / Destructive Posting:
Definition: Posting repeatedly and rapidly, or posting code, or posting pornographic images or text, alone or in coordination with other users, in an effort to disrupt the normal functioning of a message board on which the posting user(s) does not have administrative powers.

I don't think Tempests point was we Spam to much (then again much of Tempest‘s logic escapes my 4 brain cells). So long as you are actually talking about something and not blabbing on about skittles or filling up your post with smiles then it is good. We normally point out what is tasteless Spam and what is high quality, ready to be canned and sold Spam.

Yeah, right. . . lol
Yeah, of course. lol. Because we all know how spam is really high-quality meat. Better than angus beef, I say. lol. And, me and Alorith are professional spammers. I don't think Tempest minds it, otherwise he would have said so. At least we were not trying to sell anything. Btw, does anybody want girl scout cookies, I need to sell two more boxes to get a little pewter figurine. Just kidding! hahaha, had all of you there for a second. See, this is just really high-quality spam.

Webster.com says
Main Entry: spam
Pronunciation: 'spam
Function: noun
Etymology: from a skit on the British television series Monty Python's Flying Circus in which chanting of the word Spam (trademark for a canned meat product) overrides the other dialogue
: unsolicited usually commercial e-mail sent to a large number of addresses
There you go. Not sure you wanted it from me but now we have all learned something. I never knew Monthy Python had something to do with internet lingo.
Is anyone watching this 'Mr. M' thing on the History Channel? Can anyone explain the +1, +5, -3, -2, ect. ect. thing that he does to beat blackjack? Crazy all the math behind that game. I always assumed it was a game of pure chance with a shuffled deck.

Well, in a way it's amusing to see how two definitions may end up being interpreted and I'm not sure if I must make snidey comments as people try and guess what I meant.
I think my point was more that despite that the term "spam" is widely used around the internet, it simply doesn't fit the actual definition. And yes the word probably derives from the Monty Python Spam sketch about a diner which specializes in dishes made from SPAM brand processed meat, where at one point four Viking patrons in the diner began singing praises about SPAM which violently drowns out the normal dialogue in the sketch, hence SPAMming the dialogue.
But generally speaking spam relate more to push around a message or a product... what you call spam is more what I would call nonsense, junk and/or off-topic posts. Most of the time it fit one of these three concepts and some other time it's a mix of two or more concept.
What Alorith and Medea were talking about their plan to spam the board would probably fit better the second definition unless of course their Evil Plan TM was to sing praises about processed meat products (I know it's a joke, but someone asked for definition and you know our motto "We deliver!")
So Basically:
Spam is pushing around a message or a product (the goal is either to sell or convince)
Flood attack / Destructive Posting is posting repeatedly and rapidly to disrupt the normal functioning of a message board
Off topic post is an attempt to hijack a discussion into a new direction
Nonesense post is when others simply cannot follow the train of thought of the poster because it is not logical
Junk post is a post that have no value and serve no purpose in itself.
Those are my definitions of the words... feel free to disagree.

Why do you keep changing your avatar Silver? Also, I think it should count as on topic if the main topic of a discussion drifts to a differnet one, but all the same RPGs are fun.
